Hi.........just wondering if anyone can give me any recommendations, my wife and i are planning to go to Athens for my 40th birthday in October (is this a good time to go?) i was just wondering if anyone could recommend a good Hotel close to the airport it doesn't have to been extravagant , just CLEAN and reasonably priced.

Haven't been there before, only seen good reviews of it Greece Magazine, but St Thomas B&B seems very well specified, if B&Bs are what you're looking for. See this weblink for a short description of it - http://www.allbedandbreakfast.com/bed/bed-breakfast.php/bbID/1194

If it wasn't good, the Greece Magazine wouldn't advertise it, I guess. They'll even meet you at the airport at no extra charge! I would definitely consider staying there if visiting Athens (which would be the first time in that city for me). No idea about the time of year, but I s'pose the level of heat would not be so fierce.

Not close to the airport, but central Athens the Attalos hotel, good prices for a city centre, clean and the rooftop bar is facing the Acropolis. we've stayed there twice and loved it. Quite close to Monastiraki tube station. Good value for money!! Easy to get the bus to the airport and helpful staff.
