Yeia sou, Gumboot (sorry--I have to reinstall my greek fonts ).  I've never been to Santorini, but have wanted to go for a long time.  It looks so beautiful!  Someone on here has probably been there.  I'm interested as well in seeing what they have to say.  In a lot of the travel books they say instead of riding donkeys up the (many) steps to the town (from the port I believe) to take a cable car.  I have a book "Santorini: an island of lava" put out by "Toubi's" that's really informative.  It has various routes (about 40 pages worth) for visiting many different parts of the island, not just the touristy-type places, along with pictures and history.  Unfortunately it claims to have 13 maps but they're really more like tiny pictures with the line of the route on that page colored onto it.  But the author really seems to know what he's talking about.

Θα ήθελα να πάω στο Σαντορίνι, αλλά η γυναίκα μου δεν είναι τόσο ενθουσιασμένη - της αρέσουν πράσινα χωράφια, όχι μαύροι βράχοι.  Λοιπόν, ίσως θα την πείσω να 'ρθει με 'μένα, αλλά δεν ξέρω πότε...

Πιστεύω ότι υπάρχουν Μινωικά ερείπια στο νήσι - ίσως μια Μινωική πόλη.  Δεν ξέρω τι άλλα πράγματα βρίσκονται εκεί, όμως.

Από πού, ακριβώς, θα πετάξεις;  Δεν πηγαίνουν τα αεροπλάνα απ' τα αεροδρόμια κοντά στο σπίτι μου στο Σαντορίνι.
