Hi all,
Can anyone explain the difference between πρόκειται and είναι?? As far as I can make out they both mean 'it is', but there must be some difference.
For example is there a difference between 'είναι βέβαιο πως' it is obvious that.... and 'πρόκειται βέβαιο πως' '. Are both forms correct??

γεια σου bhogus, according to the Oxford G. Learners' Dictionary προκείται means "to be about to/to be going to/ to intend to"

Προκείται να βρέξει - it's going to rain

Προκείται να μας επισκεφθούν την Κύριακή - they are to visit us Sunday/they'regoing to visit us Sunday/they intend to visit us Sunday

Επρόκειται να τον δει χθες - He was to have seen him yesterday/he intended to see him yesterday

προκείται για = it is about/it concerns

Για ποιον προκείται; - who's it about?

The way I think of it (though whether strictly correct is another matter) is to take "προκείται" as meaning "It chances that..."
