Browser Support

This entire website is written from the ground up with standards-compliance in mind. Every page we are directly responsible for[1] is valid XHTML 1.0 Strict - we aim to offer the widest support possible for standards-compliant browsing, also to be accessible to those with visual impairment, and generally to present information clearly and neatly, with as few bells and whistles as possible so as not to clutter pages up for everyone without adding any real value.

Pages have been checked using the following browsers and operating systems :

Browser/Version MS Windows Linux Mac OS Notes
Internet Explorer 6 YES N/A UNKNOWN Some flashy bits don't work correctly (eg rollovers in tables containing pronunciations), but contents are legible and neat.
Internet Explorer 7 YES N/A UNKNOWN Flashy bits appear to work correctly now
Firefox 1.x UNKNOWN UNKNOWN UNKNOWN
Firefox 2.x YES YES UNKNOWN
Opera 9.x YES YES UNKNOWN
Konqueror 3.x UNKNOWN YES UNKNOWN

(If anyone can shed any light on how this site looks in any of the "missing" browsers above, or indeed any other browser we haven't mentioned, please let us know - we can't cover all possible browsers and operating systems by ourselves, though we do promise that we've done our best to cater for those which follow the standards!)

Our own content was written entirely using the VIM editor rather than any fancy GUI-based HTML editor (or worse, word processor) which tend to clutter the code and make it harder to maintain (yes, really!).
